Broadway at the Beach is going through a lot of changes, especially the Celebrity Square area and adding some new bars has been a part of that process. American Tap House is one of the newer places that has come in and it is the same owners that have Wicked Tuna, 8th Ave Tiki Bar & Good Time Charleys. It also shares a kitchen with Roosters which is adjacent to it. The space looks really cool and it probably has the longest bar in the Grand Strand. The food menu is large with a ton of options to choose from, but there is no clear focus and many of the items are overpriced. There is a very good selection of food to choose from during Happy Hour. The drink specials are five different craft beers that are $3 along with $4 house liquors. There are over 50 draft beers to choose from along with plenty of bottles to choose from, but you will be paying a premium for some of them. With the craft beer boom and a nice patio American Tap House will be one of the more popular options at the newly designed Broadway for happy hour.

If you have ever turned on TV 33 or Beach TV while in the Grand Strand in the past 30 years, then you have definitely seen the commercial for Horst Gasthaus in North Myrtle Beach. This German restaurant has been around since 1984 and is well known for its German accordion player, lederhosen clad servers and all you can eat pork chops. What it has never been known for is having an actual Happy Hour. That has all changed though as a longtime employee is now the new owner of Horst Gasthaus. It has since added modern advancements in technology like a social media page and a Happy Hour! All kidding aside I am glad to finally get a chance to add such a long-standing place in North Myrtle. The specials are pretty straight forward as you can get a buck off all drinks and there are also $2 pork chops. There is also a bar menu where you can sample much smaller portions of some of your German favorites. It may have taken over 30 years, but I am happy to add Horst Gasthaus and its amazing staff to the Happy Hour fold, a definite recommendation if you have never been.

I want to state right at the beginning, that this review is exclusive to the North Myrtle Beach location. The NMB Logan's is not corporate, so it is able to have its very own Happy Hour specials. Many of you should be familiar with the large chain that is known for throwing peanut shells onto the floor. I have always found the food to be pretty good at Logan's and you can never complain about the portion sizes. My favorite part of Logan's though has been the Roadhouse Teas which are essentially flavored Long Island Ice Teas. That is why it was a nice discovery when I found out that the Roadhouse Teas are discounted on Thursdays. The big domestic drafts are also a very good deal and there is a new Happy Hour food menu to choose from. If you are looking for a dependable chain and want a drink that might knock you on the floor then Logan's Roadhouse is one of your better bets.

I started hearing good reviews for a new all you can eat sushi restaurant in Surfside called Kings Sushi a while back, but I was never able to make it down there. I was to glad to hear that it was doing so well that another location was opening in North Myrtle Beach in the old Damons location. I was skeptical at first considering how Damons was set up, but Kings Sushi pulled it off by completely redoing the bar area. What was once a smaller bar along one of the walls was replaced by a giant circular bar in the center of the room making it a cool place to relax. As for the all you can eat concept, this is not like one of those buffets, where you pile up whatever you want. You order off the menu like normally would at any other sushi restaurant and they just keep bringing you items. There are the classic sushi appetizers, sushi, sashimi, hibachi and more on a large menu. The portions are small to avoid wasting too much food, but you can get as many as you want. You can also order ala carte and this is where Happy Hour comes in. If you do not want the full AYCE experience and just want to try a few items, then this is the perfect time to try Kings out. There are also some good drink specials including the $2 Fireballs. If you are looking to gorge at a very decent price or want to try out a new bar in North Myrtle then Kings Sushi should be your next stop.

Extreme Pizza is one of the newest additions to Broadway at the Beach as it is a fairly small sized nationwide chain with its roots starting in California. It takes over the space that used to be Amici's Brick Oven so the theme remains similar to this corner Broadway lot, but the addition of bar and a brand new patio over Lake Broadway are very welcome. With this added bar area comes a new Happy Hour spot as Amici's did not offer one before. The specials are similar to what you might see at many other pizzerias, but the food is good and the prices are very low. As for the "Extremeness" of Extreme Pizza, there are some interesting combinations that you can choose from, but nothing too crazy. The pizza is very good albeit a tad on the pricy side. I am glad Extreme Pizza has opened at Broadway because any new additions to the Happy Hour pool are good ones in my mind and it is an added bones that this is one of the better spots now at Broadway.

The downtown Myrtle Beach area is going through a revitalization and with it there have been a lot of new businesses popping up trying to bring more people down to the area. California Rolls is one of the newer places down along the boulevard that as you can assume specializes in sushi. The new space looks good and is a great stop if you want to get out of the sun for a little bit downtown and catch some sushi or other Japanese fare. There is a lengthy bar with a pretty decent happy hour as most drinks are a dollar off and there are some sushi rolls you can get at a discounted price. California Rolls is a quality new addition to the downtown scene that not many people know about, but is worth giving it a try.
